On Wednesday night, Blake Hinson had a career night against West Virginia, now, just one day after the game, NBA All-Star Kevin Durant is taking notice.
After the game, West Virginia player Quinn Slazinski compared Hinson to Durant after his stellar performance.
“He shot the ball better than Kevin Durant does,” WVU F Quinn Slazinski said about Hinson after the game. “We couldn’t have him get comfortable. We felt like we were there on a lot of shots. Some of the three-pointers he would shoot I would have the biggest smile on my face [because] that’s what we want. And then net.”
On Thursday, when asked on Twitter what his thoughts were by WV Sports Now’s Mike Asti, Durant replied, saying “He must’ve really cooked them people to Get compared to the god.”
UPDATE: 10:50 a.m. on Thursday: Durant has since deleted the tweet. Below is a screenshot of the tweet.
Hinson finished 9 for 15 from three-point land to score 29 points in the Panthers’ win. He is now averaging 21.4 points per game, which ranks 14th among all Division One scorers. Hinson is shooting a stellar 45% from three-point range this season, and showcased his limitless range in the win over the Mountaineers.
Why did he take it down?
That 9th shot for the record was 10 feet behind the line He and the team knew it was a record breaker.
What’s not mentioned but hopefully not overlooked is his toughness and leadership abilities. Defense and rebounding are part of his core. I’m glad he came back. Smart move. 1st round talent.
