Wednesday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Purdue Fort Wayne-Pitt, Clippers-Mavericks, Kraken-Kings

What a night we had last night! Once again, we were able to strike with an undefeated evening at 3-0. The Under was never in doubt in Providence’s blowout victory of #6 Marquette to open Big East play for both teams. Despite not having senior QB Frank Harris, UTSA was still able to cover the -10.5 line I put out, though it fell to -7.5 when Harris was ruled out. Winner either way. And the Arizona Coyotes railed from down 3-0 to win 4-3 over the Ottawa Senators. We are now 53-45-2 on the year.

Yesterday, we talked about the AFC Champion odds right now. Today, let’s look at the NFC Champion odds. As it stands, the 49ers are above and beyond the favorite to win the NFC, the only team that is not plus money on either side at -110 on ESPN Bet. That means you would have to risk $110 to win $100. As for the Eagles (+360) and Cowboys (+500), you could risk under $30 to win over $100 on either team. Rounding out the top 4 odds are the Lions at +800. To win $100 on the Lions first Super Bowl appearance in franchise history, you would only need to bet $12.50.

After this top 4, no team in the NFC has odds lower than 50/1, with the Rams, Seahawks and Buccaneers checking in at 50/1 odds. A $2 bet on either of these teams wins you $100. A small bet on the last two Super Bowl winners from the NFC could be enticing, but there is a reason their odds are so long at this juncture.

Truthfully, I believe it is a two-team race between the 49ers and Cowboys. The Rams could be that dark horse to make a run if they get in, but they will likely play either San Francisco or Dallas to get past the divisional round. And that is not a recipe for success.

Now onto the winning picks!

Purdue-Fort Wayne Mastodons at Pitt Panthers (-14.5) O/U 157.5 7:00 PM on ACC Network

Pitt basketball wraps up their non-conference schedule Wednesday night as they play host to the Mastodons of Purdue-Fort Wayne. Though their schedule has been a lot weaker than the Panthers, the Mastodons sit at 11-1 on the year, the top team wins wise in the Horizon League.

Not only does Purdue-Fort Wayne have a great overall record, they also have a great against the spread as well. The Mastodons sit at 7-3 ATS including 4-1 on the road, which includes an upset win over Oakland as an underdog.

Though Pitt has been impressive versus lesser competition, I believe this spread is a little too high. Pitt will pick up the win, but Purdue-Fort Wayne covers.

Los Angeles Clippers (-2) at Dallas Mavericks O/U 236.5 8:30 PM

After a really slow start to the season, the Los Angeles Clippers have been red hot in December. They are a perfect 8-0 on the month and have finally gelled with James Harden since his acquisition from the 76ers.

The wheels have been turning for the Mavericks since the injury to Kyrie Irving, is out currently with an injury. The Clippers Paul George could also miss tonight’s game with an illness, though his status is questionable and officially hasn’t been ruled.

No Paul George or not, the Clippers have enough firepower to beat the Irving-less Mavericks and cover Wednesday night, extending their winning streak to 9 games.

Seattle Kraken at Los Angeles Kings (-170) O/U 6 10:00 PM on TNT

From a LA team playing on the road to a LA team playing at home, the Kings host the Seattle Kraken in Los Angeles Wednesday night. The Kings have been one of the best teams in the NHL this year as they are neck and neck with the Vegas Golden Knights and Vancouver Canucks for the team in the Pacific division and the Western Conference.

For Seattle, things have not been so good. After making the playoffs in their second season of existence last year, the Kraken have stumbled out of the gate in 2023/2024. Things will need to change if they hope to make it back to the postseason this year.

What I am targeting in this game is the Under. Both teams are 8-2 to the Under in their past 10 games. Also, 4 of their last 5 meetings have gone under the total. Take the Under.
