Tuesday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Marquette-Providence, Frisco Bowl, Senators-Coyotes

Published

on

We were able to salvage a 2-1 night with the Seahawks coming back and winning outright in the final seconds of the game vs the Philadelphia Eagles. Both the Eagles and Steelers are winless in the month of December. That’s crazy. The Penguins were able to hold off the Fleury-less Wild and get a win thanks to a third period goal by Sidney Crosby. Duquesne made it 5-0 in the LeBron James Invitational, but failed to cover vs Bradley. We are 50-45-2 on the year.

Before the picks, I would like to drive into what is happening with the AFC Conference Champion odds. Right now, it is pretty tight between the Ravens (+210), Chiefs (+300) and Dolphins (+370). If you think Kansas City is a bit juicy and favorable at 3/1 odds, take this into perspective. Unless the Ravens and Dolphins completely crash or lose early in the playoff, Patrick Mahomes will have to play at least 1 road playoff game. This will be the first time ever, unless you count the Super Bowl in Tampa against the Buccaneers.

But outside of these teams, the Buffalo Bills are +650, I believe they really deserve a look. Technically, Buffalo isn’t even in a playoff spot yet. But they are getting hot at the right time and the defense is starting to play better despite the injuries. They kind of give me New York Giant/Pittsburgh Steeler vibes when they won the Super Bowl as wild card teams. Get your bets in before these odds change.

Now time for the picks!

Marquette Golden Eagles (-4.5) at Providence Friars O/U 146 8:30 PM on FSI

Top 10 ranked Marquette travels to Rhode Island to take on the Friars of Providence in the first Big East game for both teams. Both teams stand 9-2 and both have faced the Wisconsin Badgers. The Friars defeated the Badgers at home in November while Marquette lost at Wisconsin earlier this month.

So who has the edge here? I think Marquette is a great team and should be in the running for the National Championship in March. However, the Golden Eagles have struggled to score points on the road, with the under being 3-0 in their road games. Providence hasn’t been much better scoring at home. The Under is 8-2 in Friar home games.

That being said, take the Under 146 in what should be a tight, back-and-forth game.

UTSA Roadrunners (-10.5) at Marshall Thundering Herd O/U 52 Frisco Bowl 9:00 PM on ESPN

UTSA gets to stay close to home for their bowl game as they will make the short trip up to Frisco, TX to face the Thundering Herd of Marshall. This will be a send off game for Roadrunners seniors like QB Frank Harris, who has been the quarterback for UTSA for the past few seasons.

Marshall has been a real up and down team this year. Down the stretch, they were able to beat fellow bowl teams like Arkansas St and Georgia Southern, but were completely shut down by other bowl teams like South Alabama, Appalachian St and Coastal Carolina.

With this game being in Texas and how much it means for UTSA to send these seniors off a winner after losing to Troy last year in a bowl game, take the Roadrunners to cover tonight in the Frisco Bowl.

Ottawa Senators (-120) at Arizona Coyotes O/U 6.5 9:00 PM on ESPN+

Hockey fans around the country were laughing at the Arizona Coyotes when they announced they were going to share an arena with Arizona St that seats less than 5,000 people. I even mocked it a bit. But fast forward to this season and the Coyotes have found sort of a home ice advantage playing in this small rink.

The Coyotes enter tonight’s game 10-5 at home, which is pretty incredible given they would have more than half empty arenas when they played in a larger venue. Ottawa comes into the game riding a 4 game losing streak and they have been bad on the road all year, going 3-6 away from home.

I believe the wrong team is favored and the Coyotes pick up another home win tonight.
