Five-Star Prospect To Make Stop At Pitt Amongst Busy Schedule

A busy schedule of visits awaits one of the top wide receivers in the Class of 2025 and Pitt is penciled in on that calendar.

Rated as a five-star recruit and the No. 2 athlete at his respective position, according the Rivals.com, Winston Watkins Jr. is set to make a trip to the University of Pittsburgh on March 21.

The Naples, Fla. native will travel throughout the months of March and April to top schools across the country, including a trio of other ACC programs: Clemson (March 11), Syracuse (March 27) and Florida State (April 16).

After originally committing to Deion Sanders and Colorado on Dec. 4, 2022, Watkins Jr. has since reopened his recruitment, which provided Pitt an opportunity to offer the junior on Jan. 12 of this year.

Standing at 5-foot-10, 174-pounds, the receiver put up some lofty numbers this past season at First Baptist Academy, securing 61 catches for 1,170 yards and 13 touchdowns. He transferred to the school after spending the previous two seasons at IMG Academy.

While undersized, Watkins Jr. still possesses the attributes to be a top-end talent for any team’s receiving corps. His elusive speed and contested-catching ability certainly standout as to why he is a highly touted prospect.

The third week of March will be an important time for Pitt recruiting as the Panthers will host a slate of talented players that includes Watkins Jr.,wide receiver David Rodriguez and quarterback Dia Bell.

Someone mentioned it on another article, but if Pitt can put a fast playing and effective offensive unit together along with a traditionally stout Narduzzi defense they may have something. All I know is if it is successful I hope Narduzzi and Bell are prepping the next guy because in two years Bell will be HC somewhere and promoting from within would probably be the way to go. Of course this is all dependent on the success of the offense the next two years.
