Pitt Once Again Included in NIT Prediction

Pitt has an opportunity to earn a big win on Tuesday night when it takes on Clemson, a projected NCAA Tournament squad, on the road.

The Panthers are trying to make the big dance for the second-straight season, and certainly have some work to do to improve their resume to the point where it is one of a tournament team. While the Panthers were recently included as a “first four out” team on Mike DeCourcy’s NCAA Tournament bracketology, they have also been predicted to make the NIT by nitbracketology.com.

In this week’s updated NIT bracketology, the site had Pitt as a No. 2 seed in the NIT field. The prediction has Pitt in the same region as Villanova, James Madison, Cincinnati, Minnesota, VCU, Memphis, and Princeton.

This bracket prediction also included ACC teams Virginia Tech, Syracuse, and NC State.

Pitt takes on Clemson in a Quad One game on Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Clemson. That game will be televised on ACC Network. Check out what Pitt head coach Jeff Capel had to say about the Tigers here or click the link below.

If this (2 seed) pans out, at least we will be treated with a home game.

They are on pace for a 21-10 season. That should be good enough for the NCAA tournament. If they fall to the NIT oh well. It is still a very successful season. Before the committee used all these stupid computer rankings by the the math nerds 20 wins or more in the ACC or Big East would be almost a guarantee of being in the big dance.

Their numbers are better than say ole piss, but ole miss is talked about more, so it’s not just computer numbers, it’s money.

lol……….deflect all you want. “Very successful season” agree to disagree, but give them a participation trophy!

So finishing 21-10 as an example is not successful? How can you argue winning 2 out of every 3 games is not successful? That is not deflecting at all. Winning 20+ games is still a major accomplishment. They would end up with a winning record in the conference, too.

Skip,
Pitt may win 21-22 games, but that alone is not a reason to argue inclusion.
We are not in the RPI world, where Power Conferences get a thumb on the scale, anymore.
Who Pitt beat and by how much, and (possibly more important, this year) who they did not and by how much-is how the system works.
Let’s not tilt at windmills.
The coach needs put in the effort to figure out how to “game the system”, because his fellow competitors certainly have/are.

Posting again??? Seems that you always disappear when they’re winning. Jamie Dixon played creampuffs. He was OFTEN criticized for it. Even Stevie Wonder can see that this program is headed in the RIGHT direction. 14-18?? I LOVE it when v you look stupid.

Hey big mouth- even Stevie Wonder can see that your hero made zero in game adjustments last night and got his ass handed to him by Brownell in the most important game of the year.

Duquesne best team in town with best coach?
I wouldn’t care if Pitt never played Duquesne again.
The thrill of opposing fans shouting obscenities at your team and in your face has lost any appeal for me. And then there are guys like you. Cowards who troll opposing fans’ remarks.
