It was a perfect day for the Winning Picks, finishing 3-0. The under was able to cover in George Washington/Duquesne as the Dukes were able to get the last second win on Senior Day. Despite the Penguins being dead in the water, the over was able to cover as the Bruins blew them out, as I predicted. Pitt was able to hold off a late rally by NC State to cover on their Senior Day. We moved to 193-143-3 on the year.
Speaking of Pitt, they are riding the wave of momentum heading into the ACC Tournament. For the first time since joining the league, they will get a double bye in the conference tournament. They will more than likely face Wake Forest in their first game, as long as the Demon Deacons get past Georgia Tech or Notre Dame. But what are the Panthers odds to win the ACC?
Right now on some sportsbooks, Pitt is +1200 to win the tournament. A $10 bet would win you $120. I really think the Panthers have a shot to win this. If they get through Wake, they will probably have to face North Carolina, who embarrassed Pitt back in January but that was before Jeff Chapel’s lineup changes. The Panthers need at least one win in this tournament to get back the Big Dance (I think), but I think they can capture the whole pie with the momentum they have.

Even with McJesus in town today to face Sidney Crosby, it will be a somber affair at PPG Paints Arena as the Penguins host the Oilers. Both of these teams lost on Saturday in completely different fashions. As we know, the Pens were completely outclassed by the Bruins in Boston. Edmonton lost in a shootout in an afternoon tilt in Buffalo.
Do I expect things to go as they did when these two teams faced off in Canada last week? Yes exactly. The Penguins have lost their fire, they have lost their smile. I don’t expect much fight from them today, but I do think the goals will still be flying like yesterday. Pittsburgh will score more than 1 goal in this game, still, it will be another blowout loss.

Drake Bulldogs vs Indiana St Sycamores (-2.5) O/U 150.5 MVC Tournament Final 2:00 PM on CBS
The Missouri Valley Conference always delivers great tournament finals, and we get another today at Drake faces off against Indiana St. The Sycamores are looking to make their first NCAA Tournament since 2011, the Bulldogs made it just last year.
Indiana St’s Robbie Avila has become a poor man’s Larry Bird and has even earned the nickname Cream Abdul-Jabbar online with his rex specs. The Sycamores will need a great game from him if they want the automatic bid and I think he will deliver. I like Indiana St to win and cover today. They go back to the tournament.

Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers (-1.5) O/U 221.5 9:30 PM on ESPN
The Timberwolves continue their road trip in LA as they face the Lakers. Minnesota has beaten the state’s former team twice in Minneapolis this season, but this will be their first matchup of the year in Los Angeles. Can the T-Wolves knock off the Lakers again even without Karl Anthony-Towns?
For what it’s worth, the Lakers have played great when they face some of the top teams in the NBA. They have beaten the likes of the Clippers, Thunder and Bucks since the second half of the season began. I believe they get another big win tonight and beat the Timberwolves in LA.
