Monday’s Best ESPN BET Bets: Sun Belt Championship, Devils-Rangers, Celtics-Trail Blazers

The Winning Picks goes up one day and then goes down another like Sunday, where we finished 1-2. Our only winner of the day was the Lakers over the Timberwolves, who won and covered last night in LA. The Penguins could not help the over at all and were shutout, ruining that Winning Pick. Indiana St was embarrassed by Drake and did not win or even cover in MVC Final, they should not make the tournament as an at-large. We moved to 194-145-3 on the year.

Welcome to technically the official start of Conference Tournament week (I know these tournaments have been going on in the mid-majors since last Monday). While RMU is already out of their tournament and thinking about their future in the NEC, both Duquesne and Pitt get byes before they have to play their first conference tournament game.

The Dukes will get one bye and face either #11 seed Rhode Island or #14 seed Saint Louis in their first game Wednesday night at the Barclays Center. Pitt was able to earn their first double bye since joining the ACC and will have to wait until Thursday afternoon for their matchup when they face either Wake Forest or Notre Dame/Georgia Tech. The Demon Deacons getting upset would loom large for the Panthers, but a win themselves over Wake could go even further for their tournament hopes. It should be a great week of games throughout college basketball!

Now onto the Winning Picks!

Arkansas St Red Wolves vs James Madison Dukes (-5.5) O/U 149.5 Sun Belt Championship 7:00 PM on ESPN

Arkansas St shocked the nation last night with a buzz beater to get the upset win over App St to advance to this championship. James Madison, who knocked off Michigan St in East Lansing to begin the season, was able to hold off Texas St to reach the final. Who has the edge tonight for the right to go to the NCAA Tournament?

JMU was able to beat the Red Wolves by 4 points on the road last month. That was their only meeting of the season. Arkansas St is feisty but James Madison captured the hearts of America at the beginning of the season and they plan to recapture them in March. I like the Dukes to win and cover tonight, advancing to the NCAA Tournament.

James Madison Covers -5.5, Arkansas St Red Wolves 65 James Madison Dukes 74

New Jersey Devils at New York Rangers (-135) O/U 6.5 7:00 PM on NHL Network

The legend of Matt Rempe has cooled off a little bit over the past week, probably because the Rangers themselves have cooled off. Before their shutout victory over the Blues on Saturday, New York had dropped 3 of their last 4 games. Now they will get a chance to get a win streak going again when they face the Devils tonight.

The Devils have been just as up-and-down as the Penguins this year except they had the nerve to fire head coach Lindy Ruff. The Pens probably won’t do that to Sullivan, yet. It hasn’t really made much difference for New Jersey; they are still pretty mediocre. That’s why I like the Rangers to win tonight at MSG.

Rangers Moneyline -135, New Jersey Devils 2 New York Rangers 4

Boston Celtics (-9.5) at Portland Trail Blazers O/U 216.5 10:30 PM on NBA TV

With some injury questions for the Celtics including Kristaps Porzingis being out and Jayson Tatum being out, they find themselves less than double digits favorites on the road in Portland. If everyone was healthy, this line would be more towards -14/15 if we are being honest.

Boston has feasted on teams like the Trail Blazers, and it should go about that way tonight. Even if Tatum were to miss the game, Jaylen Brown is playing some of the best basketball of his career right now and can easily lead these Celtics to a double digit win in Portland tonight.

Celtics Cover -9.5, Boston Celtics 125 Portland Trail Blazers 102
