NCAA Tournament Second Round Day 2 Best ESPN BET Bets: James Madison-Duke, Grand Canyon-Alabama, Texas A&M-Houston
It was another positive outing for the Winning Picks on Saturday, finishing 2-1. Gonzaga rode a strong second half to topple Kansas to advance to the Sweet 16. North Carolina was able to cover after a slow start against Michigan St. Duquesne sadly was outmatched and did not cover against Illinois. Thank you Keith Dambrot for everything. We moved to 216-162-3 on the year.
After two days of upsets, Saturday did not bear the fruit that the first two days of the tournament had. Those Saturday games always feel like an autocorrect from all the madness the previous days. For upsets today, I am leaning more towards the likes of Utah St and Clemson to at least cover as well as Colorado. One of those teams will win outright, at least I hope.
For favorites, the only favorite I am truly leaning to is UConn but I believe the books are giving them too many points at the same time. Northwestern is scrappy and could drag the Huskies down to their level. This could be a situation where you live bet UConn if they are trailing earlier if the spread is under double digits. I just have a weird feeling one of these #1 seeds is going to fall today. We will find out.

#12 James Madison Dukes vs #4 Duke Blue Devils (-7.5) O/U 147.5 NCAA Tournament Second Round 5:15 PM on CBS
Who is the better Duke(s)? That’s what we will find tonight in Brooklyn as the James Madison Dukes take on the Duke Blue Devils for a shot at the Sweet 16. JMU completely shutdown Wisconsin from start to finish on Friday night. Though the Badgers tried to stay in it, truthfully it never really felt close. Duke was able to fight off Vermont to cover in their game.
The Dukes seem like that one team that would give a team like Duke trouble. They are efficient on both ends and don’t fear any team they play. This would be the biggest win in school history for them, even bigger than winning at Michigan St in November. I am picking James Madison to cover for the Winning Picks, but I believe they will win outright and send Duke home.

#12 Grand Canyon Antelopes vs #4 Alabama Crimson Tide (-5.5) O/U 169.5 NCAA Tournament Second Round 7:10 PM on TBS
Knowing what I know about Alabama this season, Nate Oats’ squad can beat any team in the country on any given night. They can also lose to any team on any given night as well. After running away with the game against College of Charleston, they face the Grand Canyon Antelopes fresh off an upset of St. Mary’s.
The Antelopes were able to control most of the game against the Gaels but the Crimson Tide are a different animal. They go up and down the court like nobody can in the country. The SEC was like playing video game basketball this year. I believe the Antelopes can keep up with Tide and possibly cover, but I like the over way more in this one. Shots will be falling left and right, and this high total will still be covered.

#9 Texas A&M vs #1 Houston Cougars (-9.5) O/U 134.5 NCAA Tournament Second Round 8:40 PM on TNT
We have our first rematch of a regular season matchup in the NCAA Tournament today as we have a Texas sized showdown between Texas A&M and Houston. The Cougars beat the Aggies by 4 at the Toyota Center in Houston back in December after leading by 15 points at halftime. That score leads to how I am picking this game.
The Cougars have gone into cruise control once they get a big lead this season. They are like a predator playing with their food after they hunt it down. Texas A&M can score and have a terrific coach in Buzz Williams, who has knocked off big time opponents before. I like the Aggies to rally in the second half, keeping it close and covering against the Cougars.
