Pennsylvania’s Top Player in ’25 Continues Ascent in Recruit Rankings

Published

One of the most decorated and desired recruits to ever come out of the WPIAL continues to gain national recognition in recruiting circles.

Five-star prospect Meleek Thomas slots in at No. 7 in On3.com’s recently updated Class of 2025 150 Basketball Rankings. Thomas is just one of 10 juniors to be ranked as a five-star by On3.

The Lincoln Park product received a 98.89 grade in the recent rankings that came out following the conclusion of the high school basketball season.

He slides in as the No. 3 shooting guard in the country and maintains the mark as the top-rated player out of Pennsylvania.

The consensus five-star recruit across all services (247, Rivals and ESPN) is one of the most coveted prospects in the nation and has been heavily recruited by his hometown school in Pitt.

Thomas made an official visit with the Panthers in early March after making numerous unofficial stops with the program.

According to the On3 recruiting prediction machine, Pitt has a 32 percent chance to land the Pittsburgh native over the likes of Kentucky (21.2 percent) and Auburn (18.1 percent).

Thomas and his Lincoln Park squad captured back-to-back WPIAL and PIAA titles this season behind 22.7 points and 10.2 rebounds per game.

Panther fans are hoping that Thomas follows in the footsteps of his senior teammate, Brandin “Beebah” Cummings, who will join the Panthers in the fall.

According to Steve Rotstein of the Pittsburgh Union Progress, Thomas and Cummings are the first WPIAL duo to score over 22 points per game in back-to-back seasons.

He will be a Huge star at Pitt and rich💰💰. The acc is still the best basketball conference in America. Results speak for the wins in the tournament year after year. Plus the number of final four team’s and winners. He and Cummings will be best backcourt in America in two years.

Glad to see my little cousin being great!!
For the record, he truly has not decided, as of yet. He’s raising his stock, keeping his options open, & his mom in the dark! 😆
