Duquesne Forward Andy Barba Hits Transfer Portal
With Dru Joyce III taking over the Duquesne men’s basketball program for Keith Dambrot, he will be tasked with rebuilding a roster that has seen a bevy of departures thanks to graduation and now the transfer portal.
On Thursday, forward Andy Barba became the second Duke to hit the portal, which was first announced by Verbal Commits and confirmed by Barba on X.

In two seasons of action, Barba played limited minutes, logging 3.3 minutes and one point per contest across eight games. This past season, the forward scored a career-high six points against Cleary in late December.
The 6-foot-6 Cleveland, Ohio native will hit the portal as a graduate transfer with three years of eligibility. He will graduate with a business degree from Duquesne.
Barba committed to Duquesne as a member of the 2021 class. However, he did not see any game action due to injuries and was held off the court for two years until he checked into a game against Kentucky in November of 2022 and then days late scored his first two collegiate points against South Carolina.

In the portal, Barba joins guard Kaillon Nicholls, who entered his name on Thursday.
Duquesne is now up to nine departures with Barba and Nicholls in the portal and seven players graduating from the program in Dusan Mahorcic, Jimmy Clark III, Dae Dae Grant, Tre Williams, Andrei Savrasov, Hassan Drame and Fousseyni Drame.
The remaining scholarship players for the Dukes, include David Dixon, Halil Barre, Jakub Necas, Matus Hronsky and Kareem Rozier.
Jake DiMichele, who recorded 23.1 minutes per game and 22 starts for the Dukes this season could likely receive a scholarship after emerging as a viable starter in his freshman campaign.
