Monday’s Best Draftkings Bets: Stars-Golden Knights, Pirates-A’s, Lakers-Nuggets

Published

on

Another good day for the Winning Picks on Sunday finishing 2-1. The over was able to cover in Rangers/Capitals as New York eliminated Washington from the playoffs. Minnesota was able to get the cover as they swept Phoenix, sending them into an uncertain offseason. The Pirates weren’t able to come back to beat the Giants, allowing San Francisco to take the series. We moved to 265-215-3 on the year.

With the draft officially over, we can now firmly look at Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the Year awards for the upcoming season. Obviously, new Bears QB Caleb Williams is the front runner on DraftKings at +200. On defense, former Alabama and new Viking pass rusher Dallas Turner is +400. I am going to talk about the defensive rookie of the year another day because there is value all over the board there, but I want to focus more on offensive rookie of the year today.

Williams does have all the toys with the Bears to easily win the rookie of the year on offense next year. However, there is a trend that will kind of shock you when it comes to #1 picks and the award over recent memory. Kyler Murray was the last #1 pick to win the award in 2019. And before that, Cam Newton was the last to do it in 2011. With this trend, guys like Marvin Harrison Jr at +600, Jayden Daniels at +650 and even a guy like Keon Coleman at +3000 feel more appealing than Williams. We will have to see how things shape out when Training Camps roll around.

Now onto the Winning Picks!

Dallas Stars (-125) at Vegas Golden Knights O/U 6 9:30 PM on ESPN

This has been a series dominated by the road team as the Golden Knights lead the series 2-1 heading into Game 4. After being dominated in Dallas, the Stars were able to pick up their first win in the series in Game 3. Will this trend of road warriors continue tonight?

I believe it will. The Stars going down 2-0 was a swift quick in the butt for the top team out of the West. Granted, the Golden Knights are not your typical second Wild Card team as they are defending Stanley Cup Champions. Dallas will even the series at 2-2, sending this series back to the Lone Star State with the final result still being up in the air.

Stars Moneyline -125, Dallas Stars 4 Vegas Golden Knights 3

Pittsburgh Pirates (-125) at Oakland Athletics O/U 8 9:40 PM on SportsNet Pittsburgh

Drink it in folks, this could be the last time the Pittsburgh Pirates ever play a series in Oakland, California. With the A’s moving to a temporary home in Sacramento before permanently moving to Las Vegas, this will be the last season for baseball in Oakland. Ironically, this will mark only the fourth ever series for the Pirates in Oakland following the expansion to Interleague play in 2002. I was actually at the first ever regular season game between the A’s and Pirates at PNC Park in June 2002. Those were the Moneyball A’s.

As for today’s matchup, Bailey Falter continues his world tour after another quality start. The Falter train will eventually come off the tracks, but it won’t happen tonight. A great start by Falter combined with some timely hitting from the Bucs gets them the win.

Pirates Moneyline -125, Pittsburgh Pirates 5 Oakland Athletics 3

Los Angeles Lakers at Denver Nuggets (-7.5) O/U 217 10:00 PM on TNT

The Lakers were able to stave off elimination in Game 4 versus the Nuggets, sending this series back to a Game 5 in Denver. Los Angeles got at least 20 points from 4 of their five starters in their double digit win on Saturday night. Rui Hachimura was the only Laker’s starter to not be in double digits for scoring.

Can the Lakers rally from 3-0 down to make this a series? Not exactly. Game 4 was a wakeup call for the Nuggets. They know how to beat this Laker team and they get them back in altitude again, where the Nuggets haven’t lost to LA in over a calendar year. Denver wins and covers tonight to move on to face Minnesota.

Nuggets Cover -7.5, Los Angeles Lakers 102 Denver Nuggets 111
