Finally, a positive day for the Winning Picks finishing 2-1. The Lightning were able to avoid elimination as they defeated the Panthers to send the series to a Game 5. The Pirates were able to get a win in extra innings over the Giants. By the skin of our teeth, the over barely missed in the Stallions/Roughnecks game. We moved to 263-214-3 on the year.
We have 8 total playoff games across both the NHL and NBA today. In the NBA today, I like the Knicks and Clippers to keep it close. One of those teams will win outright today, and it will be the Clippers. The Pacers are also massive favorites as the stars of Milwaukee could be out for this game. If any of them end up playing, I like the Bucks to cover today.
In the NHL, 3 teams are looking to take commanding 3-1 series leads in the Avalanche, Canucks and Oilers. I believe Colorado and Vancouver will accomplish that goal today. As for the Oilers, I like the over in that game on the road in Los Angeles.
Now time for the Winning Picks!
Pittsburgh Pirates at San Francisco Giants (-112) O/U 7.5 4:05 PM on SportsNet Pittsburgh
Happy Jared Jones Day to all those who observe! The rookie as quickly emerged as one if not the top dog in the current Pirates rotation. Jones has struck out at least 7 batters in all 5 of his starts this season with an ERA at 2.79. Will he continue that success against the Giants today?
In this series, the Pirates starters have yielded zero earned runs in 12 innings of work. In those 2 starts, Quinn Priester and Martin Perez have combined for 10 strikeouts as well. Look for Jones to continue his momentum and shut down the Giants in a Pirates win today.

New York Rangers (-198) at Washington Capitals O/U 5.5 8:00 PM on TBS
The Capitals are looking down the barrel of being swept by the Rangers as the host Game 4 in DC. This could be Alexander Ovechkin’s last playoff game as a Capital. Let that sink in. You know the Russian goal scorer is going to do everything in his power to not let that happen.
But I believe it will, but not without a fight from the Caps. I believe this game will turn into a wild back and forth game with the Rangers going up late in the 3rd period. New York ices the game with an empty netter and the over will cover.

Minnesota Timberwolves (-1.5) at Phoenix Suns O/U 212 9:30 PM on TNT
Another team surprisingly facing a 3-0 deficit is the Phoenix Suns. For all the hype surrounding bringing in Bradley Beal in the offseason, it honestly hasn’t worked but not because of Beal. The trio of Beal, Devin Booker and Kevin Durant has been stellar when they have been on the floor together. It is the pieces around those three and on the bench that has caused this team to be on the brink of elimination.
The Suns pretty much purged all of their role players to acquire Durant and Beal. Dating back to the Celtics and Heat trios, you need to have good role players around them and off the bench in order for this strategy to work. This attempt failed for the Suns and it won’t help them today. Minnesota sweeps the series tonight and sends Phoenix into an offseason with a lot of question marks.
