Pitt’s basketball staff has been on the road throughout the summer scouting high-school talent from all over the country.
One of those players that they have seen is Josh Powell, a 6-foot-5 wing out of Archbishop Molloy in Briarwood, New York. Powell told PSN on Monday that the Panthers’ staff has been in contact with him as well as his coach, but he has not yet received an offer.
Powell plays his summer ball for Wiz Kids AAU, a New York-based organization on the Adidas circuit.
ESPN ranks Powell as a four-star prospect in the class of 2026. He has received interest from a long line of Division One programs so far: Long Island, Miami, Texas A&M, TCU, Illinois, Pitt, Brown, Marist, Le Moyne, Bryant, UCSB, Albany, Mississippi State, George Washington, and Kent State.
Pitt has reached out to over 15 players in the class of 2026, including Quincy Wadley, who was the first player in the class to receive an offer from the staff. The staff, by PSN’s count, has reached out to eight guards, four wings, and four bigs in the class of 2026.
