Last night, one of Pitt’s Quad 2 wins from earlier in the season jumped up to a Quad 1 win due to a certain result in the ACC Tournament.
With NC State’s win over Syracuse in the ACC Tournament, the Wolfpack jumped up to No. 73 in the NCAA NET rankings after beginning Wednesday at No. 79. Pitt has beaten NC State twice this season, once at home, and once on the road. The road win over the Wolfpack was bumped up to a Quad 1 win, as any win over a team ranked 1-75 in the NET on the road is a Q1 win. The home win over the Wolfpack moved into the Q2 category from Q3 as well, because every win over a team ranked 31-75 in the NET at home is a Q2 victory.
Pitt is currently ranked No. 45 in the NET rankings.
Pitt will have another chance to bolster its resume on Thursday in Washington D.C. with a game against No. 5 seed Wake Forest at 2:30 p.m. Wake Forest is ranked No. 36 in the NET, and because the game is on a neutral court, this will be a Quad 1 opportunity for the Panthers.
The Panthers have split the season series with Wake Forest so far this year, beating the Demon Deacons at home and falling to them on the road recently.
Here is a breakdown of Pitt’s wins this year, quad-by-quad.
Q1: 3-5
Q2: 5-3
Q3: 6-2
Q4: 7-0
Pitt’s NET was 44, yesterday.
Pitt’s rank is 40 today
Q 1 Is 4-5 after beating Wake last night.
