Houston OL Brant Banks Plans on Visiting Pitt

Published

With the bulk of recruiting nearly completed on the defensive side of the ball, the Pitt coaching staff will be placing a heightened focus on offensive prospects. The offensive line will be a priority for the staff. It appears that at least four, possibly five, linemen will be added to the 2019 recruiting class. One of the prospects in regular contact with Pitt happens to be towering Houston (TX) Westbury Christian offensive lineman Brant Banks (6-foot-8 inches, 270 pounds).

“I actually spoke with Pitt this week about taking an official visit there,” said Banks. “I think I’m going to be trying to take all five of my official visits. We’re trying to set the date. I text them a lot. I talked to them about once a week on the phone. I’ve talked with Coach (Pat) Narduzzi before but Coach (Randy) Bates is my main contact.”

Banks is a exceptionally tall and athletic prospect. When he was first offered by Pitt, he weighed roughly 250 pounds. He has diligently been hitting the weight room in an attempt to add muscle and he reports he’s currently up to 270 pounds. Banks has the frame to easily go over 300 pounds.

When asked about his strengths on the football field, he stated, “I’m definitely aggressive. I attack the player in front of me and attempt to take them out of the play. Last year was actually the first time I played offensive line. Before that I played defensive line. My skills are still coming and I’m definitely going to learn a lot once I get to college.”

Pitt will have to fend off a host of schools to secure Banks’ services. “I’m looking at Nebraska, Baylor, pretty much all of my power five offers,” he said. “I’m going to try to take my official visits to schools I haven’t seen yet.”
