AJ Roberts is someone that Tim Salem has been pursuing and today those efforts were rewarded.

While leaving his official visit, Roberts gave a commitment to Pat Narduzzi and Pitt. The Staten  Island, New York native becomes the 3rd linebacker in Pitt’s Class of 2020.

Roberts committed to Pitt over other offers from Boston College, Duke, LSU, Rutgers, Purdue and Syracuse.

”The life skills program that Pitt offers to their athletes and the education you get there was a big reason for my decision,” Roberts told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Also, the defensive system that Coach Narduzzi has in place really fits me a lot.”

“I didn’t come into this weekend expecting to commit. It just hit me while I was there, I was actually expecting to make a decision in July or August.”

Roberts tells PSN that he told his future position coach of the news prior to going letting Narduzzi know that he was getting another commitment.

”I told Coach Harley first who screamed and was very excited,” said Roberts. “Then I told Coach Narduzzi while we were at the photo shoot and he was surprised.”

Roberts joins Bangally Kamara and Solomon Deshields as Pitt’s linebacker commitments, do you have to wonder if that’s all they’ll take this year. Ohio linebacker Devin Hightower and Aliquippa’s Zuriah Fisher are other linebackers that Pitt has been actively recruiting.
