Pitt Transfer Ryan Murphy Sets Top Four Destinations

Published

on

Pitt guard transfer Ryan Murphy has set his top four schools, according to a report by Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Murphy, who will graduate from Pitt this spring and be immediately eligible for his final season of NCAA play, has narrowed his list to BYU, UC-Santa Barbara, East Carolina and Tulane.

A 6-foot-2 shooting guard, Murphy shot 33.1% from 3-point and averaged 7.6 points per game in 30 games (12 starts) with the Panthers in 2019-20 after transferring to Pitt from New Mexico Junior College.

Murphy told PSN that a reduction in his playing time in the second half of the season was a driving factor in his decision to transfer.

“I just felt that I needed and wanted to go in a different direction going into my senior season,” he said.

Without Murphy and fellow shooting guard Trey McGowens, who has also entered the transfer portal, Pitt has been looking at transfer options to fill its final two open scholarships for 2020-21.

Don’t see how this is relevant to Pitt. He got his degree which is good. He is yesterday’s news.
