Instead of doing a daily recruiting notebook, we’ll instead do a weekly one until the recruiting news picks up. I’ll just update this from Saturday till Friday throughout the week.
**Thomas Jefferson 2017 linebacker Zane Zandier picked up his first offer today. Toledo was the first school to pull the trigger with an offer for the talented linebacker. I’m hearing that Zandier will have to camp at Pitt first to see if he can earn an offer.
**Speaking of Toldeo, WPIAL players Gabe Houy, Mitch DeZort, Thomas Vissman and Brayden Thimmons all visited with the Rockets today.
Upper St. Clair’s Gabe Houy
Highland’s LB Mitch DeZort
**Talented Steel Valley running back DeWayne Murray was in Morgantown today visiting with West Virginia.
UPDATE (6:53 PM)
**Aside from Murray, a bunch of other WPIAL players were also in Morgantown. Central Catholic 2017 LB/WR Tim Terry made the trip and told me about it.
“We went to the game against TCU and we toured around the football facility. I the met the great coaching staff including graduate assistant coach Anthony Leonard. He walked around with me during the tour. We took pictures of us in the uniforms. Rick Squires, Kenny Robinson, Kurt Hinish, Curt Harper, Justice Evans, Julian Major and Khalee Cephas were all there with me from the WPIAL . ”
Terry said no offer was made but said they’ll be back to my school in the spring.

UPDATE (7:31 PM)-
**Mars 2018 SG Rob Carmody made an unofficial visit today to Notre Dame. Last week, the junior guard was in Michigan.
**Offensive guard Robert Martin (Montvale, New Jersey) says that he’ll be visiting Pitt this coming Thursday. Martin (6-5, 260) is a 3-star player with early offers from Boston College, Maryland, Rutgers, NC State, Temple and Wake Forest. I hope to talk with Martin later on today.
UPDATE (1:00 PM)-
**Rivals.com Adam Freidman is reporting 4-star LB Ellis Brooks (Richmond, Virginia) will visit next weekend. Brooks (6-2 , 240) is a Rivals Top 250 player and has offers from South Carolina, Michigan, Maryland, North Carolina, NC St and Virginia Tech.
UPDATE (2:12 PM)-
**The Iowa State football program continues to aggressively recruit Western Pennsylvania. Their last offer is to someone who you’ll recognize, at least his last name. Dino Tomlin is a freshman WR/DB on the North Catholic football team. Despite being only a freshman, Iowa State has offered him a scholarship. New head coach Matt Campbell and assistant head coach Tyson Veidt are serious about making a mark in the WPIAL. Remember, they were able to land McKeesport’s Tymar Sutton.
UPDATE (6:03 PM)-
**Philadelphia RB D’Andre Swift is one of the top running backs in the entire country. Swift (5-10, 208) currently has offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State and Pitt. I’m told by a reliable source that “Pitt is in play for Swift more than people think. They definitely have a shot at him.”
It’s hard to get information out of Swift because he’s very tight lipped about his recruitment.
