PETERS TWP., Pa. — On the opening kickoff of the game, Bethel Park kicked away from start Peters Township safety, wide receiver and kick returner Donovan McMillon.
For the rest of the game, it wasn’t as easy to keep the ball away from him.
McMillon scored on a 43-yard pass on that opening drive and then again from closer in later in the first quarter as the Indians rolled, 45-7 over the Black Hawks.
Both McMillon touchdowns came on passes from senior quarterback Logan Pfeueffer, sandwiching in a Vincent Sirianni 10-yard scoring scamper. Pfeuffer hit Jacob Macosko on another long passing play for a score as the Indians built a 28-7 first-half lead.
Though the score was lopsided, the Black Hawks had plenty of chances in the first half. A long touchdown run by junior Troy Volpatti was called back on a holding penalty and the Black Hawks turned the ball over on downs inside the Peters Township 5-yard line.
In the second half, it was all Indians. Andrew Masucci covered a 25-yard field goal after a long McMillon reception brought Peters Township into the red zone.
The Peters Township defense stepped up its game, creating two turnovers, one of which turned into a Sirianni score and the other was a fumble recovered in the end zone by Macosko.
The Indians improved to 5-0 and will face West Allegheny to close the regular season next Friday.
