Starting Center Owen Drexel Out for Panthers Against New Hampshire

Published

on

Panthers starting center Owen Drexel didn’t dress for Saturday’s matchup against the New Hampshire Wildcats, one week after exiting early against Western Michigan. Starting right guard Jake Kradel will likely play in his place.

Drexel’s absence leaves an already-sparse offensive line without one of its key players, and Drexel’s replacements struggled in his absence against WMU. The Wildcats defense has allowed just 48 points in three games this season. With the offensive line struggling to get any push up front, that could spell trouble for the Panthers.

The look from pre-game warmups had Kradel at center with Gabe Houy at rugby guard and sophomore Matt Goncalves getting the start at right tackle.

This line combination is music to my ears. I don’t want to see Drexel injured and I hope that he recovers soon but I’ll take this starting line combo every game. I happen to believe this current configuration is the most optimal. Make it so Borbely.
