Once Pitt received word that last year’s leading scorer Blake Hinson would be returning to the team, the Panthers began to receive some outside hype regarding next season’s team.
Recently, NCAA.com March Madness analyst Andy Katz has been high on the Panthers heading into the 2023-24 campaign, including them at No.35 in his post-NBA Draft Deadline Power 36 power rankings.
Then, when Katz released his bracket prediction on Friday, he once again included the Panthers. Katz has Pitt as one of five ACC teams making the field (Pitt, Duke, Miami, North Carolina, Virginia), and has the Panthers as a No. 9 seed in the Midwest region.Â
Pitt made the NCAA Tournament this past season for the first time since 2016. The Panthers earned an 11 seed and played in the First Four play-in game, defeating No. 11 Mississippi State in Dayton and advancing to the Round of 64 in which they took down 6-seed Iowa State in Greensboro
