It’s shaping up to potentially be a big recruiting weekend for the Duquesne basketball program.
Earlier this week, we reported that George Washington transfer guard Maximus Edwards would be making an official visit and now we have another visit confirmed and it’s a big one.
Duquesne basketball on Pittsburgh Sports Now is sponsored by The Summit Academy: setting young men on the path to a better future.
Former Miami, Fla. forward AJ Casey will be at Duquesne this weekend for an official visit.
The 6-foot-9 sophomore from Chicago was a former 4-star recruit and the No. 102 overall prospect in the Class of 2022. Before signing with Canes, Casey held offers from Ohio State, Florida, Gonzaga, Illinois, Indiana, Louisville, Marquette, Memphis, Michigan, Nebraska and Purdue.
During his two seasons at Miami, Casey has not gotten the opportunity to showcase the skill that made him one of the top forwards in the country coming out of Whitney Young High School. Casey averaged just 7.8 minutes per game in two seasons.
New Duquesne coach Dru Joyce is working to replace a number of players that graduated from last seasons team and adding a talent like Casey would be a huge step.
Adding Casey to the frontcourt with David Dixon, Jakub Necas, Halil Barre and Matus Hronsky would give Joyce a lot of talent to work with in his first season.
that would be a nice add. And the GW kid too. Need to replace a lot of scoring from the guard positions.
