Pitt Football Extends Offer to Alabama Commitment

Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt football coaches have spent the week recruiting as they have a bye week before returning to action next Saturday at North Carolina.

The Pitt staff has extended numerous offers this week, mostly to players in the classes of 2026 and 2027.

The biggest offer locally went to Aliquippa 2027 running back Sa’Nir Brooks but the one of the most interesting offer went out on Wednesday night.

While recruiting in Georgia yesterday, Pitt extended an offer to 2026 four-star cornerback Dorian Barney from Carrollton, Ga. What makes this offer interesting is that Barney has already given a commitment to the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Rivals.com currently ranks Barney as one of the Top 100 juniors in the country and the No. 10 ranked cornerback in the class of 2026.

“I found out about the offer as I was talking with Coach Collins,” Barney tells PSN. “We have been communicating with each other for a while and I was just waiting on the opportunity.”

“I know that Pitt plays good competitive football in the ACC and that they send people to the NFL. I’m looking forward to getting to know more about them.”

Barney committed to Alabama in May over offers from Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Indiana, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Tennessee, UCF, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

Barney will be one of the hundreds of recruits in attendance this weekend for the huge matchup between Alabama and Georgia and also traveled to Tuscaloosa for the Crimson Tides season opener. At this time, Barney is considered a firm commitment to Alabama.

With that being said, signing day for the class of 2026 is a long way away, so we’ll see if Archie Collins and the Pitt staff can make any headway with Barney.

“I’m blessed to even be in this position to even get the opportunity to play college football,” said Barney. ” I like that I get the opportunity to play for Pitt and since I’m from PA (Erie), that’s makes it even more interesting. Still building that relationship with the coaches.”

Has Pitt offered Scoop Smith? He’s too much of an explosive playmaker for them to not be pursuing him
