A second Pitt Panther will take advantage of the opportunity and return to play another season of college football.
Pittsburgh Sports Now has learned that senior defensive back/linebacker John Petrishen has decided to play for the Pitt Panthers during the 2021 season.
The former Central Catholic star transferred from Penn State at the beginning of last season and for the first time in years, is fully healthy. Petrishen is someone that Pat Narduzzi has been able to use in the secondary, as a reserve linebacker and on the Pitt special teams units.
Because of his versatility and with Pitt potentially losing some experience in the secondary and also at this new position with the linebackers, Petrishen will have chance to have more of an impact on the defense in 2021. I’m told that this opportunity has him really excited and is the biggest factor in the decision to return.
As was reported earlier this morning, PSN has also confirmed that senior tight end Lucas Krull also plans on returning to Pitt after missing virtually the entire season with an injury.
Just like Krull, no shot at NFL so get as much school paid for as possible.
Petrishen will be like 30 next year. Unless he’s in med school, he won’t be taking advantage of much in the academic realm.
