Pitt’s basketball staff has been working the phone over the past few weeks, calling transfer prospects from all over the country out of the portal.
The most recent report, coming from On3’s Joe Tipton, says that the Panthers have contacted Damian Dunn, a 6-foot-5 transfer out of Temple. In addition to Pitt, Dunn heard from Miami, Gonzaga, UConn, and other high-major programs.
Dunn played four seasons at Temple, averaging at least 13 points per game in each of his last three years there. This year, Dunn set career highs in points and assists per game, averaging 15+ points and three assists while shooting a career best 35% from three-point range as well.
The Panthers have contacted more than 10 transfers in the portal so far, with a focus on experienced guards and wings. Pitt will be looking to fill the gaps left behind by veterans Jamarius Burton, Nike Sibande, Nelly Cummings, and Greg Elliott in the back court. The Panthers have redshirt freshman Dior Johnson returning and will also have freshmen Jaland Lowe and Carlton Carrington joining the back court.
Hope that blurb about Dior staying on is accurate!
