Does Narduzzi Have A Tough Decision?

Pitt head coach Pat Narduzzi has done his best not to use the redshirt year of some of his talented freshman.  Two players that fall into that category would be Damar Hamlin and Therran Coleman.

However, an injury to his top cornerback might force one of those freshman into action.

On Saturday, cornerback Avonte Maddox left the game with an injury and wasn’t able to return. Although the exact injury wasn’t announced, it appears as though Maddox injured his elbow.

If Maddox’s injury is serious and it very well could be, Narduzzi and DC Josh Conklin don’t have the depth to make up for his loss and would likely have to use one of their freshman.

So, who would Narduzzi turn to, Coleman or Hamlin?

Although it’s just speculation, I’d guess that Narduzzi would turn to Coleman. At this point in the season (6 games in), I have to believe Narduzzi wants to save Hamlin’s redshirt.

Narduzzi has his weekly press conference today but I doubt that he’ll give an exact answer on the situation.
