Campbell Looking At Pitt

Published

on

The Pitt Panthers are looking for at least two more defensive tackles for their Class of 2017 and one of those targets is a 4-star player.

Wyoming Seminary Prep 4-star defensive tackle Kyree Campbell is a player that’s very high on Pat Narduzzi’s wish list. Campbell’s size (6-5, 320) makes him a perfect fit in Narduzzi’s defense.

Campbell has previously given a verbal commitment to North Carolina so I asked him where that stood.

“I’m no longer with North Carolina. I’m basically a free agent and I’m very open to all schools as I’ve opened my recruiting back up,” said Campbell.

This talented defensive lineman won’t have any problem drawing interest. Campbell has offers from plenty of the top schools around the country.

“Ohio State, Michigan, Clemson, Florida, Penn State, South Carolina, Virginia Tech and yes, I do plan on taking visits this month, I just don’t have them planned out yet,” said Campbell.

Of course, Pitt wants want to know where things stand with Campbell and the Panthers.

“I really like Pitt and it seems like an amazing school. Even though I’ve never visited I know it’s a special place. I’ve talked to Coach Simms twice a week and I’ve built a strong relationship with him.”

What message is Coach Simms trying to sell Campbell on?

“They need a guy that they know is going to come in and cause havoc as a freshman.”

“I’m also interested in Pitt’s great facilities and their graduation rate is 97% which is beyond incredible and the fact that they work so close to the Steelers,” said Campbell.

Over the last few days, Pitt fans have reached out to Campbell and expressed how much they’d like to see him join Pitt and that’s something Campbell has noticed.

“It makes me feel great to see fans also apart of the recruiting process. All of the Pitt fans have been positive which just tells me about Pitt’s atmosphere.”
