The Pitt Panthers are coming off a very successful recruiting weekend landing six commitments within a two-day span.
The encouraging thing for Pitt is the programs that they were able to beat out for most of these six players. People have called into question the level of recruit Pat Narduzzi has been bringing into the program but that won’t be brought up in this case.

The two biggest gets were New Jersey linebacker Solomon Deshields and Ohio linebacker Bangally Kamara. Pitt landed Deshields despite having offers from Baylor, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, Missouri, Oklahoma State, Oregon, Rutgers, Syracuse and West Virginia. Kamara held offers from schools such as Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Penn State and Purdue. He was also getting interest from Notre Dame, Ohio State and West Virginia.
How hard was he being recruited by other schools? Here’s an article that ran a month ago on Penn Live about Kamara and his recruitment. If you notice, Pitt isn’t mentioned which shows how much ground Collins and Pitt were able to close on him.
The Pitt staff and in particular Archie Collins deserves credit for their pursuit of Kamara despite it looking as though he might commit to Penn State, Michigan or Purdue. This was a player that was being heavily pursued by some big time schools, but Pitt was able to close the deal on him.
Thats outstanding, great job coaches.. I love beating out PSU, haha
