Clearwater Academy in Clearwater, Florida is a place that Pitt has had success recruiting lately receiving commitments over the last couple of years from wide receiver Jared Wayne and defensive end Habakkuk Baldonado.

Pitt is hoping to land another player from that football program this year as well when they host one of their top defensive players on an official visit.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has confirmed that 3-star defensive end/defensive tackle Akheem Mesidor (6’3″, 250) will make an upcoming official visit. Right now, we’re told that the official visit is set for the weekend of December 6-8. However, PSN is told that Mesidor is trying to move that official visit to next weekend for Pitt’s final home game vs. Boston College.

PSN has already confirmed that on the weekend of November 29-December 1, Pitt would be hosting 3-star 2020 quarterback Tate Rodemaker and 3-star 2020 cornerback Derek Bermudez.

Mesidor holds offers from Pitt, Georgia Tech, UCLA, West Virginia, Maryland, Syracuse, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Louisville, Minnesota, Ole Miss, Rutgers, Central Florida, Virginia Tech and Washington State but will has a Final Five of Pitt, West Virginia, UCLA, Georgia Tech and Syracuse.

Mesidor, who like Wayne is a native of Ottawa, Canada, plans on announcing his decision and signing with a school in December.
