Earlier in the week, Pittsburgh Sports Now reported that Class of 2021 Gateway four-star athlete Derrick Davis. planned on making an unofficial visit to the University of Georgia, one of his five finalists, but things have changed.
Davis confirmed to PSN that instead of spending the weekend in Georgia, he’ll make a return visit to Columbus, Ohio to visit Ohio State. Ryan Day and the Buckeyes open up their season by hosting Nebraska this weekend.
Prior to this news, it was thought that Davis wanted an opportunity to see the two campuses that he’s never been two, Georgia and LSU. If no visits are made to those two schools, it would be hard to imagine Davis selecting either one of them.
From the start, this appeared to be a two team battle between Penn State and Ohio State, which still remains the case.
Pitt, Davis’ fifth finalist, has the selling point of the opportunity of playing immediately, playing on both offense and defense, as well as the opportunity to play with fellow WPIAL stars and friends Elliot Donald, Nahki Johnson and Dorien Ford. However, the odds of him deciding on that don’t appear to be strong.
Davis is currently set to make this decision on Nov. 7 at approximately 5 p.m. The Gators are scheduled to visit Connellsville on Friday night to close out their regular season.
