Postgame Reaction from Dejected Pitt Locker Room after Big Loss to Clemson

Published

Pitt’s 2020 season went off the rails a while ago, with back-to-back one-point losses to NC State and Boston College beginning a miserable month of October that saw the Panthers slide from 3-0 to 3-4.

While accomplishing a record like the team had hoped for was long out of reach, there existed on tiny sliver of a chance for Pitt to take away something of a concrete success from the 2020 season: beat Clemson at Clemson.

As the Panthers took the field in Death Valley on Saturday afternoon, those hopes lasted about five minutes. The Tigers raced out to a 31-0 first quarter lead and never looked back, coasting to a 52-17 victory.

“This is not the goal we had for this team,” senior defensive end Rashad Weaver said. “We thought this was going to be our type of year. We thought every game on our schedule was winnable.”

Clearly, those thoughts turned out to be incorrect. Here’s more from center Jimmy Morrissey and Weaver from the dejected Pitt locker room after the loss:
