On Thursday, Pitt’s Chris Payton entered the transfer portal after playing one season for the Panthers in a limited role.
The former Indian Hills Community College player joined the program last year and has now departed after just one season.
He appeared in just 13 games, averaging 3.1 minutes per game and less than one point. He scored ten points on the season and grabbed a total of ten rebounds.
With this news and Noah Collier entering the transfer portal earlier this week, Jeff Capel has four available scholarships for this offseason.

And the beat goes on…
Bring back Howland
Best of luck to him and all, but this is good for Pitt. Makes room for a more quality player. Only will be worried if some actual contributors start leaving.
I hope they can just field a team next year with 5 scholarship players. Who will want to come as a freshman let alone a transfer with more than 1 year of eligibility playing for a lame duck coach.
Best wishes to the young man …. unfortunately, he never seemed to find a groove with the team.
No names but there are a couple more that need to leave.
Nobody wants to play for a loser like capel!!!
Would like to see more information on the
point guard portal transfer prospects.
Hopefully one of the youngsters is the answer.
Jeff & Jayson Capel were excellent point gards when they played so I think they will be able to land a point gard or 2 from the portol. Capel has done a great job considering the cicumstandes he inhererted.
