North Hills F Royce Parham Earns Offer From Pitt, Breaks Down Relationship with the Staff

On Saturday night, Pitt head coach Jeff Capel extended an offer to North Hills standout Royce Parham, who is a forward in the class of 2024.

Parham heard from Capel over the phone on Saturday, after his AAU coach Wayne Pratt (Kevin Durant’s father) gave him the heads up that Capel wanted to talk. Shortly after, he picked up the offer.

“They like everything about my game,” Parham told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “They think I would fit good in the program. I believe I could fit with their team.”

Parham stands at 6-foot-8 and is a defensive force with a skilled offensive game as well. With his length, he is a prolific shot blocker as well as a terrific rebounder on both ends. Parham’s touch around the rim is also one of his biggest strengths, as he is athletic enough to get to the rim, and once he is there, he is a consistent finisher. Back in March, Parham, a sophomore, led his North Hills squad to the WPIAL Class 6A Title game in the Petersen Events Center against Fox Chapel. While the Foxes came out on top over North Hills, Parham still valued the experience and enjoyed playing on Pitt’s campus.

“It felt good to play there,” he said. “Even though we lost, it felt good. With all the fans and all the people there it was a great environment to play in.”

Parham told PSN that he has been to about ten Pitt games over the past few years, and that he is a fan of the program. Last summer, the local product took an unofficial visit to Pitt, and got to meet the entire staff while on his trip.

“I met all of them, the assistants too,” he said. “They are really great people and they’re really nice. His [Capel’s] head coaching style is really good and I’d really like to have him as a coach too.”

When asked whether playing close to home is something that he would be interested in, Parham gave a quick response.

North Hills Sophomore Standout Royce Parham Recaps Pitt Visit

“Definitely, 100%.”

He plans to visit Pitt again soon, most likely in the month of June. Parham also told PSN that in addition to Pitt, Penn State is the other school that is recruiting him most often right now. However, the two other local programs, Duquesne and Robert Morris, are the only other two that have offered him.
