Pitt Basketball Receives Official Visit From 2023 4-Star Shooting Guard Carlton Carrington

Pat Narduzzi and the football program weren’t the only Pitt program hosting players on an official visit this weekend.

Jeff Capel hosted one of the top shooters in the Class of 2023.

4-star shooting guard Carlton Carrington (St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland) was in town for an official visit to Pitt.

Carrington (6-foot-3, 175-pounds) is ranked by 247 Sports as the No. 100 player and the No. 3 junior prospect in the state of Maryland. At this stage of his recruitment, Carrington holds offers from LSU, Rutgers, LaSalle, VCU, George Washington, Loyola Chicago, George Mason and DePaul.

This was Carrington’s second trip to Pittsburgh as he made an unofficial visit back in November.

“I’ve been communicating with Coach Brown and Coach Capel a lot and actually for over a year now,” Carrington tells Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Our communication during this time has gone really well and they told me that they wanted me to come up for an official visit, so I accepted the opportunity.”

“What stood out to me about the weekend was the amazing campus that Pitt has, plus the surrounding area. Also, just everything that the University of Pittsburgh has to offer aside from just athletics. Basketball wise, what stands out to me about Pitt is the amazing conference that they play in along with the coaches on the staff. Also, getting to see it, Pitt’s basketball facilities are really nice.”

Pitt’s attraction to Carrington is obvious as he’s one of the best and smoothest shooters in the country.

“Pitt is trying to recruit me and sell me on the opportunity that I would have here to play right away,” said Carrington. “Of course, it would be up to me and how I’d perform, but I could play right from the start. I really like that because I want a college that I can come in right away and play, especially in a conference that they’re in. They brought up to me all of the guards that will be graduating after this coming season.”

Carrington tells PSN that he expects to make a college decision by the end of July but “that’s right now and it could change at any time.”

Up next for Carrington is a visit to Loyola, Chicago.
