On Wednesday, the Pitt staff was down in North Augusta, South Carolina checking out the Nike Peach Jam tournament when it decided to offer one of the standouts from today’s games in the event.
The staff extended an offer to Tyler Betsey, a 6-foot-8 small forward in the class of 2024. The rising junior scored 20 points for his NY Renaissance squad on Wednesday afternoon, going 6 for 10 from three-point range in a win over Mokan Elite, another Nike program. Pitt was on hand for the matchup, and offered the sharp-shooting prospect later in the day.
In addition to his offer from Pitt, Betsey also holds offers from Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Iowa, Penn State, Rhode Island, and more. For the Renaissance program, he plays alongside New York prospect Dwayne Pierce, who added an offer from the Panthers staff just five days ago.
After beginning his high-school career at Windsor High School in Connecticut, Betsey announced months ago that he would spend this upcoming year at St. Thomas More, a prep school in Oakdale, Connecticut. The former Windsor standout posted averages of 23 points and six rebounds per game last year as a sophomore, earning All-State honors, per GametimeCT.
Betsey initially heard from Pitt back in June at the start of the contact period. He now moves up the PSN Recruiting Board with the offer. Check out the full 2024 board below.

Wondering if whoever takes over in ‘24 will honor these offers….(fingers crossed)
