5-Star Pitt WR Target Hykeem Williams Commits to Florida State

Fort Lauderdale, Fl. — It was a grand undertaking at Stranahan High School Friday afternoon, with seemingly the entire school crammed inside the Stranahan gym, and Hykeem Williams finally made his long-awaited collegiate decision.

Williams, a 6-foot-4, 205-pound wide receiver from Stranahan, committed to Florida State.

And while Williams has made his decision, it isn’t the end of the recruiting process for him either. There are official visits on the schedule, chances for each of his top contenders to continue to impress — or falter — and all six of his contenders will have a chance to continue their pursuit.

Tiquan Underwood strengthened Pitt’s initial bond, an offer extended all the way back in January of 2021, but it was the three visits he made in March, July and September that allowed Pitt to grow from more than just a school with his favorite position coach.

Pitt ran a full-court press to impress Williams, rolling out the red carpet, and while Florida State was the choice today, it’s not necessarily the end of the road for Pitt and Williams yet.

With four-star wide receiver Zion Fowler (Jersey City, New Jersey) and three-star wide receiver Kenny Johnson (York, Pennsylvania) already committed, there’s a solid wide receiving corps depth in the class of 2023, but and there’s room for one more.

I think young Mr. Williams will regret his decision. Florida State seems like they’re on an endless loop trying to recapture the Bowden days. Coaching change after coaching change. With Kenny Minchey coming to PITT Hykeem and Minchey would have been a formidable duo. Minchey is lighting up the globe so far in his senior high school season. I’m awaiting his excellence. Hakeem should reconsider. H2P

You do know Minchey hurt his shoulder and didn’t play last week?
What makes you so sure Minchey will end up at Pitt?

I learned of his injury only after posting, tbh. I’m somewhat convinced he will attend PITT because I’ve read his family supports his decision. I think Hakeem committing would have cemented Mincheys decision. But, you never really know. I’m somewhat new to commenting on this particular site. I’ve noticed that you seem to have a particular disdain for PITT and PITT football. I’m curious about that. I had complete disgust with Penn States program after all the controversy and crimes against children in their facility. But, I’ve gotten over that. I no longer begrudge PSU for that embarrassment. It’s my… Read more »

If you believe the crawler on ESPN, the race was between Texas A&M, Georgia, Miami and FSU. Williams is being smart. He didn’t close negotiations, he just set the minimum NIL price. Don’t expect him to come to Pitt nor FSU. Stay tuned. Or like Addison, move on.
