Locked On Pitt: Assessing Pitt’s Offense, Frank Cignetti’s Play Calling

Pitt offensive coordinator Frank Cignetti Jr.

Kedon Slovis and the Pitt offense has been issued a rash of injuries, including to Slovis himself, that has caused a lot of turmoil and change of gameplans early on in Pitt’s season. How should we evaluate Pitt’s offense thus far throughout the season? Is Frank Cignetti an effective play caller?

If Pitt’s offense will improve, what are the key factors that are holding it back besides injuries at this point? Is the wide receiver play any closer to improving after struggling to start the season? How much of an issue is Pitt’s offensive line as it continues to grow?

Lastly, after Miami’s loss to Middle Tennessee State, it seems the ACC Coastal is more open than ever. Should Pitt be the favorites to win the ACC Coastal at this point? Who are some threats to Pitt that could sneak up and steal the prize?
