In what Pitt is expecting to be a bounce back performance against Virginia Tech this weekend at Acrisure Stadium, Pitt will be keeping it simple when it comes to the uniform choices.
Pitt will wear its traditional uniform for this week’s Homecoming game, featuring a gold helmet with a blue stripe down the center, blue jerseys and gold pants — as modeled by Jared Wayne this week.
Virginia Tech has started the 2022 season slowly, losing to Old Dominion to open the season and dropping contests to West Virginia (33-10) and North Carolina (41-10) over the last two weeks.
With a 2-3 record, beating Boston College and Wofford this season, it’s clearly a rebuilding year for first-year head coach Brent Pry in Blacksburg, Virginia.
Pitt is 10-11 all-time against Virginia Tech, dating back to an inaugural meeting in 1993. VT won the first four matchups and seven of the first eight matchups. The two sides have met every season for the last 10 years, with Pitt winning six of the 10 matchups. Pitt won 47-14 in 2020 and 28-7 in 2021.
Kickoff at Acrisure Stadium is scheduled for 3:30 p.m., and the game will be broadcast on ACC Network. The crew of Wes Durham (PxP), Roddy Jones (analyst) and Taylor Davis (reporter) will be on the on the call.
Stop with the uniform changes PITT, and start playing football. It’s also a sign that the Panthers and some other individual schools seem to have a lack of interest, or no interest at all in holding onto their school’s visual identities. Too much change and not enough tradition is repugnant! Stick with home and away, and stop showboating silly costumes.
I liked the shiny blue face masks against GaTech. PITT -14.5 with 41.5 O/U. I bet the O/U over. PITT with wood-shed performance covers -14.5 too.
