On Friday. Duquesne basketball extended an offer to a prospect in the class of 2025 by the name of Quinn Woidke.
Woidke, a 6-foot-1 combo guard, plays for Saint Ignatius High School in Cleveland, Ohio, where he is coached by Cameron Joyce — the brother of Duquesne Associate HC Dru Joyce III.
“It’s great,” he told PSN about receiving his first offer from the Dukes. “I know people around there, coaches up there. It’s just opening everything up, so it’s great.”
Woidke spent this week in Rock Hill, South Carolina competing for Wildcat Select in the Adidas 3SSB National Tournament. While he is also preparing to play quarterback for his high-school football team in the fall, Woidke said that at the moment, he is mainly focused on hoops.
“I’m a go player, he said. “I try to get down hill, shoot the ball, play as hard as I can. I like to compete.”
Woidke said that he has been in touch with a number of MAC schools, including Toledo, Bowling Green, and Akron. He has also heard from coaches at Ohio State, Liberty, and Robert Morris since the direct contact period opened up on June 15. However, with the offer on Friday, Duquesne becomes the first to officially pull the trigger on Woidke.
The rising junior plans to visit Duquesne in the future and is excited to check out the campus once he sorts out the details of his trip.
