PITTSBURGH — Pitt suffered a poor 27-21 loss to Cincinnati Saturday night at Acrisure Stadium, and Pat Narduzzi spoke to the media afterward about the decision to continue playing Phil Jurkovec in the second half, how the run defense disappointed him and his overall thoughts on the loss.

If you’re happy being a 8 win team stick with this coach. If you want a national championship get someone else. He is a mediocre coach , will never get you to the big dance.

Narduzzi is good. He has one serious bad trait. He is not capable of hiring and keeping a good OC. Or admitting and correcting a bad hire.
Watson and Cignetti were terrible hires.
No qb wants to play for Cignetti. As we settled for a proven bad passer Jurkovec. Narduzzi needs to get an OC. That’s his job.

The only non state universities which will compete for a national championship are Michigan and USC (the last non state school to win a national championship).
Too much money to compete against.
Texas and A&M share state land oil royalties, LSU doesn’t have to share.
Michigan is supported by the auto industry and USC has Hollywood.
Final answer.

I think you just lost some of your fickle fans when you were starting to build that base.(you need all you can with this program). You can look at all our faults, but this horrible loss goes back on coaching staff horrible line play, horrible game plan especially offensively, definitely not prepared to step up and play a real game not exhibitions. Young talent going to waste on the defense line, much more athletic than starters.

The OC is not throwing wounded ducks all game. If anything the OC did wrong was continued use of 4-wides like the UTK and Colorado Offense. Something was off with QB1’s arm or he is dinged up already. Bunch formations, TE dumps, and crossing routes may have helped QB1 look better. Those sideline passes to WR1 #0 did not look so good. Made Bub Means look bad. The screen call in the 3rd Quarter was smart, poorly executed. Couldn’t establish the Run game with fluidity so don’t go pointing the OC as the blame. However BTW, Mark Whipple is available… Read more »

No QB wants to play for Cignetti. He can’t attract a top recruit or transfer. They already know he will kill their career.
That is why we settled for Jurkovec

Right. Cignetti draws up throwing wounded ducks instead of zippy spirals, got it. And Dave Borbley is a bad offensive line coach even though Izzy broke the School record for single game rushing last season against VA Tech. Maybe watch a game in review in the other Team’s perspective and appreciate what they did. Their DBs played well to cover up our WRs for the majority of the game. Their inside blocking on Offense was effective in the 1st Half freeing up their hammer of a RB for long gains. They exploited DE aggressiveness with swing patterns. Their kicker makes… Read more »

no trolling. I said the team would be bad this year after losing so many key contributors and I was never high on Phil. WR are really bad so it will be tough to get it to Bartholomew. OL was also bad and after recruiting 3* for years there is no depth on the line that will stop the top teams. 110k at Penn State, I bet the Cincy game had 20k Cig and Duzz should go tomorrow, you hit the ceiling. Probably wait until Lyke leaves for OSU next year and the new AD can bring in their own… Read more »

There is common knowledge among qb prospects to stay away from Cignetti. Fact.

Cignetti has been Phil Jurkovec’s qb coach for three years. Jurkovec has terrible footwork and throws a terrible ball. That is because he has a terrible position coach.

Had a seance with the QB whisperer Mark Whipple, Marshall Goldberg came through and wants his Spirit captured and put back in the box. Beano Cook came through too, reminded us Phil went to Notre Dame but Coach Duzz had him confused with Ron Powlus in terms of Heisman hopeful. His prediction we’ll beat FSU at Home but still lose 4 games this regular season.

Game plans normally don’t make it past the 1st quarter, this one didn’t make it past the 1st snap. Cincinnati decided not to let Jurkovec get comfortable in the pocket and sent as many as necessary to accomplish that. A dual threat qb was the solution but Duzz is too stubborn to admit that. Is Christian a dual threat? Better find out because Pitt can’t protect a pocket passer.

Christian has enough mobility, definitely more than Phil. He is not a dual threat by any means though. When Cincy can bull rush right up the middle all day it’s gonna be bad, OL was terrible, which hindered every other part of the gameplan.

Pitt plays Cincinnati like “oh, it’s Cincinnati “. Cincinnati plays Pitt like it’s the FBS championship game. Central Michigan did that two years ago and went .500 for the remainder of the season.
They did give our opponents the blueprint on how to defense us. Good thing, they gave it to us, too.
A dual threat qb is needed for a defense that sells out like last night. Hope Christian is that one.

Western Michigan Broncos in replace of C.Michigan. Randy Bates on the sidelines was the scape goat that Week. And yes PITT had a Safety against Miami that year too.

They took a page out of Narduzzi’s Cover 4 defense and it did them well making us one dimensional. The Offense was predictable when it did Run from formations, down and distance. If you are going to run three TEs and Daniel Carter at single RB in the 13 package it’s not clear why they are not bunched rather than wide. The screen play in the 3rd Quarter was the proper call but poorly executed. If you want to get Gavin TE1 more in the game plan the inside shovel pass is there like they once ran with Matt Canada… Read more »

If they get no WR help teams will double Gavin much more than they do already. Hammond should be RB1, end of discussion

You should’ve never gave him the starting job and they shouldn’t hire that office of coordinator they went backwards with him. The game changes.
