Another walk-on has joined the Pitt basketball roster ahead of the 2023-24 season.

Pitt basketball has added Jajuan Nelson, a 6-foot-7 forward from Philadelphia to the roster. Nelson attended String Theory Charter School in Philadelphia, where he averaged more than 14 points per game over his last two years of high-school ball.

As a senior, Nelson scored 15.2 points per game and grabbed 8.8 rebounds per game in 20 games. In his junior campaign, Nelson scored 13.2 points per game and grabbed 9.7 boards per contest. There, he played alongside his brother Javon Nelson, who will play college ball at Penn State – Brandywine.

Pitt has three other walk-ons on the roster, with KJ Marshall (senior), Vason Stevenson (sophomore), and Benjamin Mayhew (freshman). The Panthers have six total freshmen on the roster, as Papa Kante (injured), Jaland Lowe, Carlton Carrington, and Marlon Barnes Jr. joined the squad. Pitt also added transfers Ishmael Leggett, Zack Austin, and Mike Hueitt to the roster this offseason out of the transfer portal.

The Panthers kick off their 2023-24 season on Nov. 1 with an exhibition against Pitt-Johnstown. The regular season starts on Nov. 6 as the Panthers take on NC A&T at home.
