A great start to the winning picks. Another 2-1 day puts us at 6-3 overall. Honestly we should’ve gone undefeated with Nebraska covering the +6 for the whole game. Overtime is where bets go to die. Matt Rhule chose to go on defense first and surrendered a touchdown. If you were lucky enough to get the closing value line of +7 on Nebraska, you were blessed with a push.
As for today, we have a huge slate of NFL action. Once again I will only give out three picks that I love today, but I do have some more leans on some bets like yesterday in college football, which did pretty well with Georgia, Ohio St, Georgia Tech and UNLV all covering.
Look for Washington, Detroit and Dallas to all get big wins today before their showdowns on Thanksgiving. In the Detroit/Chicago game, look for David Montgomery to get some revenge on his old team with multiple touchdowns, which is +380. Except a ton of points today in the Chargers/Packers and Cardinals/Texans games. Also, the Cardinals and Raiders will keep it close in both their games today.
Now onto the picks.
Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns (-2) 1 p.m. on CBS
They say sometimes it is better to be lucky than good. For the Steelers, that has been the summary of their season. Despite being 6-3, the Black & Gold have been out produced on offense in each of their games.
When they face Cleveland today in the Dawg Pound, they will catch another break as Dorian Thompson-Robinson gets the start for the Browns. DTR looked horrible in his first start this season vs the Ravens, but you have to take that performance with a grain of salt since he was only informed 2 hours before the game that he would start.
The Steelers did score 26 points in their first matchup with Cleveland, but that was aided by 2 defensive touchdowns and 1 long touchdown to George Pickens. Outside of the Pickens touchdown, the offense was anemic thanks to Cleveland’s defense.
Without Minkah Fitzpatrick again and no Keanu Neal, I believe the Steelers luck runs out. Look for the Browns to run heavy with Jerome Ford and Kareem Hunt, who I expect to go Over on their rushing props, as with DTR as well. DTR has a juicy any time touchdown at +450, as does the returning Pat Freiermuth who is at +450. The Steelers defense/special teams to score at +800 is also too good to pass.
Though I am a Steelers fan and it pains me to do this, I am taking the Browns ML in a very close game.
Cleveland Browns ML (-130), Cleveland Browns 17 – Pittsburgh Steelers 16
Texas Longhorns (-17.5) vs Louisville Cardinals 3:30 p.m. on ESPN
What has happened to the Louisville Cardinals? This Blue Blood basketball program has turned into a laughing stock in college basketball over the past year and a half. Kenny Payne has been way over his head.
The Cardinals are 2-1 this year but those wins came over UMBC, coached by former Duquesne coach Jim Ferry, in a comeback effort and a win over bottom feeder program Coopin’ St. They lost by 10 to Chattanooga as well.
This will be Louisville’s first game away from home as this game will be played at Madison Square Garden in the Empire Classic. This will be Texas’s first game away from home as well, but I expect them to roll over the Cardinals in this neutral site contest.
Texas covers -17.5, Texas Longhorns 85 – Louisville Cardinals 60
Minnesota Vikings at Denver Broncos (-2.5) 8:15 p.m. on NBC
The Sunday night football matchup this week puts two teams that were left for dead a couple weeks ago. Now, the Vikings and Broncos find themselves back in the thick of things in their conferences.
Josh Dobbs has been amazing since getting to Minnesota less than 2 weeks ago. He still may not know all of his teammates, but that hasn’t stopped him from winning 2 games for his new club. Dobbs should have some success in this game on the ground, he is +295 to score which is really high considering he has 5 touchdowns on the ground between the Cardinals and Vikings.
Russell Wilson is finally looking like somewhat of his old self in recent weeks. Big upsets over the Chiefs and Bills has Broncos Country riding again. Wilson will need to be efficient Sunday night in what should be a tight game.
This will be a back and forth game that I believe will go Under 42.5. Games in primetime this year have gone under in 25 of 33 games.
Under 42.5 Covers, Minnesota Vikings 20 – Denver Broncos 17
