Down by as many as 10 points, the Pitt Women’s Basketball Team came away with a 73-62 victory over Binghamton Sunday evening at the Petersen Events Center.
Liatu King led the way with her 27-point, 10-rebound performance, good for her sixth double-double on the season, a figure which leads the NCAA. Her four steals also matched a career high.
Teammate Aislin Malcolm’s aggressiveness paid off, as her final line consisted of 18 points to go with six rebounds. Despite not starting for the first time this season, Rapuluchi Ayodele grabbed 10 rebounds in 17 minutes of work.
As a team, Pitt (3-5) had decisive rebounding (42-27) and points in the paint (42-14) advantages.
Following the contest, Malcolm and coach Tory Verdi discussed the victory and a fourth quarter in which Binghamton was held off the scoresheet for over eight minutes.
