Pitt offensive line target Kevin Wigenton II.

Pitt made the final four for Kevin Wigenton II when he was coming out of the Hun School in 2021, but he ultimately went on to enroll at Michigan State.

A couple of seasons later, Wigenton is back on the market and Pitt is once again in the mix.

Pat Narduzzi and Dave Borbely extended Wigenton — a 6-foot-5, 310-pound offensive guard originally out of Colts Neck, N.J. — an offer Tuesday afternoon. He told Pittsburgh Sports Now that the coaching staff would like for him to take a visit in the near future, but that’s still to be decided on Wigenton’s end.

Wigenton has also received offers from Vanderbilt, Colorado, Rutgers, Illinois, South Carolina and Arizona State since officially entering the portal Monday.

Wigenton has already been to Pittsburgh a handful of times but not since he took an official visit in the summer of 2020. And he’s familiar with Narduzzi, Borbely and Tim Salem from their time recruiting him the first time around.

He named Pitt to a top four that included MSU, Maryland and Tennessee, and he ultimately wound up in East Lansing, Mi.

Wigenton played in 12 games for Michigan State in 2023, starting six games at right guard, and he racked up a career-high 501 snaps in the process — up from just a handful in 2022. According to PFF, he allowed eight pressures, eight hurries and no sacks.

He will have two seasons of eligibility at his next location.

Pitt worked through a double-digit number of offensive line combinations in 2023, to varying degrees of success, but it’s clear that, for all of the problems offensively, the offensive line play wasn’t good enough.

Jake Kradel and Blake Zubovic, mainstays on the offensive line over the last two seasons, have exhausted their eligibility, and preseason starters Matt Goncalves and Ryan Jacoby have not decided upon their futures yet.

Branson Taylor and Ryan Baer started just about every game at left and right tackle, respectively, after Goncalves went down with an injury, and there’s potential there. BJ Williams and Jason Collier Jr. will return as two of the more experienced interior options now.
