Former Pitt defensive tackle Deandre Jules has found a new home for his final season of collegiate eligibility.
Jules, a sixth-year defensive tackle who entered the transfer portal on Nov. 29, committed to South Carolina Wednesday afternoon. The Germantown, Md. native will spend his sixth season of college football in the SEC.

Jules was perhaps the first surprise portal entrance of the offseason, as he was expected to return in 2024 with a starting spot on the interior of the defensive line, and it was a tough loss considering the lack of experienced depth behind him. And the fact that he developed for five years in Pittsburgh before hitting the portal.
“First, I want to say thank you to the University of Pittsburgh for all they have done for me the past 5 years. It has been blessing and I will forever cherish my time here as a Panther. I’d like to thank coach Partridge, coach Bates, coach Narduzzi and the rest of the coaching staff for their unwavering support in me,” Jules wrote on Twitter.
“I am forever grateful for the relationships I’ve built and the opportunities the university has provided me. With that being said, after careful consideration, I have decided to enter the transfer portal with 1 year of eligibility remaining.”
Jules entered 2023 with just a couple hundred snaps under his belt after four years in the system, but he emerged last season as a key cog on the defensive line — easily the breakout candidate on the defensive side of the football.
He recorded 474 defensive snaps in 2023, serving as a starter on the defensive tackle more often than not, and he recorded 24 tackles (13 solo), 7.5 tackles for loss, two sacks and a forced fumble. He was a key run-stuffer on the defensive line, too. That production will be missed as David Green, Devin Danielson and Tyler Bentley have exhausted their eligibility.
As it currently stands, Elliot Donald and Sean FitzSimmons are slated to step into the Pitt starting lineup next season, with Isaiah Neal set to headline a group of freshmen (true or second year) that includes four-star recruits Jahsear Whittington, Sincere Edwards and Francis Brewu.
Still, there will undoubtedly be an addition or two or three on the defensive line — especially on the interior.
Good Luck!
Hope you got a lot of $$$$. IMO: Terrible long term decision, leaving one of the best D Line coach and schemes in college football, to go there.
H2P!!!
I’m sure his family and agent will take your opinion and weigh it carefully.
Just like your opinion has no value here either Sparky. The PSU troll that can’t mind his own business.
You are such a looser – and you are NOT welcome here.
I feel very sad for you in that you have to come here because even your PSU people can’t stand you.
You still here making negative comments about Pitt? Grow up and go back to Pedo state
State of college football right here!
Good luck; I will be keeping an eye on him and hoping he continues to progress. With that being said, I’m not too opposed to us losing some individuals. We had one of the worst seasons in recent history and running it back with the team we had, doesn’t seem to make any sense. Give the young guys a chance!
Best of luck D. Jules. Hopefully he has his degree already. Kids should absolutely take advantage of the transfer portal and NIL. Its no diff than any adult changing jobs to get a better compensation package.
unfortunately for Pitt I agree
Pitt needs to match those it values
PittMBB offered to keep Fx2 and seems got little value so far 🙁
Why are mostly defensive lineman transferring? Supposedly we have this super star d line coach, but we lost our two best d lineman. Bam and Sam should have started and played most of the games, but we had Nate Temple and Deon Hayes on the field most of the time.
Money! It’s sad but they are looking for the quick buck & Pitt can’t match it for everyone.
I agree with Temple’s playing time, but Hays is a beast and should play as much as possible.
