Pitt Continues to Build CAI Pipeline With 2025 3-Star IOL

Pitt offensive line target Thomas Dumais.

Clearwater Academy International has been very good to Pitt, with Haba Baldonado and Jared Wayne making their way to Pittsburgh over the last couple of years, and the Pitt coaching staff is once again recruiting the area.

Pitt checked out Clearwater Academy earlier this week, and Thomas Dumais — a 6-foot-3, 280-pound three-star interior offensive lineman in the class of 2025 — picked up an offer from the Panthers in the process.

“It feels great,” Dumais told Pittsburgh Sports Now.

Pat Narduzzi and Cory Sanders were in Tampa to check in on recruits at Clearwater Academy, and the Pitt coaches were there to watch an early morning workout. When Narduzzi and Sanders pulled Dumais aside following the workout, he knew what was coming. An offer.

“They asked me where I’m from, asked me what I play and they said I look good for a center,” Dumais said. “I had some letters from there before, but I never actually talked to them before this morning.”

The offer is still very new, as is the relationship as a whole, so there aren’t any current plans for a visit. But Dumais would like to check out Pittsburgh before he makes a decision. There is a level of familiarity with Pittsburgh when it comes to the CAI stars who have went on to star at Pitt, too.

But when it comes to Dumais’ recruiting process, it will be about the relationships he’s able to foster with the schools interested in him.

“When I do my official visits, it’s really the vibe,” Dumais said. “I want a coach who is interested in me. If I commit, I’m most likely going to commit for the school, and I want them to show me what they can do for me, if I’m an NFL player.”

As it currently stands, Dumais is a big, agile interior lineman who is able to play all three interior spots on the offensive line. There’s always a need for interior linemen — especially at Pitt.

247Sports rates Dumais as the 612th-ranked recruit in the class (44th-ranked interior offensive lineman and 79th-ranked recruit from Florida) while On3 rates him as the 595th-ranked recruit in the class (55th-ranked interior offensive lineman and 78th-ranked recruit from Florida).

Dumais has picked up offers from Appalachian State, Austin Peay, FIU, FAU, Florida State, Indiana, Ole Miss, Penn State and USF at this point, and he’s been hearing from just about every one of those schools — along with Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Texas A&M.

He’s still figuring out exactly what he will be doing this spring, but the plan is to check out the schools interested in him. It starts this weekend actually.

Dumais will be visiting Florida this weekend and Florida State next weekend, and there will be additional visits worked out after that. He plans to use the current recruiting period and his Under Armor camp appearance as a way to determine what’s next. And he will likely make another decision following that period.

Pitt, as it currently stands, is in the mix. He knew of the school before Narduzzi and Sanders made it out to see him, and he liked it, but it’s about what comes next.

“It depends on how they’re recruiting me,” Dumais said. “If they stay consistent with me, for sure (they’ll be in the mix).”

Pitt has not yet landed a commitment in the class of 2025, but the recruits in the class are beginning to come to the forefront.

The Panthers are in the mix for four-star linebacker Dayshaun Burnett (Pittsburgh, Pa.), three-star athlete Emmanuel Taylor (Virginia Beach, Va.), three-star offensive lineman Raphael Greene (Cincinnati, Ohio), four-star wide receiver Jadyn Robinson (San Juan Capistrano, Cal.), three-star running back Jeffrey Overton Jr. (Woodbridge, Va.) and three-star edge rusher Sharlandiin Strange (Wyncote, Pa).
