Pitt has jumped into the fray for a rapidly rising cornerback in the class of 2025.

Courtland Guillory — a 6-foot-2, 170-pound cornerback from Klein Oak High in Spring, Texas — has seen a string of offers come his way over the last couple of days, and he picked up another from Randy Bates during an in-school.

“My relationship with Pitt started today mainly,” Guillory told Pittsburgh Sports Now. “Coach (Randy) Bates called me down from my class. Then we started talking about Pitt culture and things to expect at Pitt. Later on in the day, he came back to my school to watch basketball practice, where we got to talk a little bit more.

“It felt great picking up an offer from Pitt. Coach Bates put a lot guys into the NFL, which is a dream of mine. With him as my coach, I can expect good things in the future.”

Guillory has picked up offers from Arizona State, Georgia Tech, Houston, Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, Oregon State, Pitt, TCU, Tennessee and UCF, and the offers from Missouri, Oklahoma, Pitt, Oregon State and UCF have arrived over the last three days.

The relationship between Pitt and Guillory is still pretty fresh, and Bates is the only Panthers coach he’s spoken with so far, but he liked what he heard from Bates. And he liked how Bates spent some one-on-one time with his mother — a first in his recruiting process.

His recruiting process will only get bigger throughout the spring as he takes unofficial visits and appears at camps around the country. He’s a tall cornerback who can shut down wideouts on the outside and fits the mold of a traditional Panthers cornerback.

Guillory was a first-team All-District cornerback as a junior at Klein Oak, racking up 34 tackles, two interceptions, four pass breakups, a forced fumble and two recoveries and a defensive touchdown, and he’s in line for a big senior season.

Guillory has not yet been rated by the major recruiting services (247Sports, Rivals and On3), but it’s only a matter of time as he goes through what will be a busy spring.

He’s taking visits to TCU and Houston in February, according to On3’s Gerry Hamilton, and he is currently planning to make the trip to Pittsburgh this spring for a practice.

It’s early in the process, but Guillory said that Pitt is a school that he plans to keep up with in the recruiting process in the future.

Pitt has not yet landed a commitment in the class of 2025, but the recruits in the class are beginning to come to the forefront.

The Panthers are in the mix for four-star linebacker Dayshaun Burnett (Pittsburgh, Pa.), three-star athlete Emmanuel Taylor (Virginia Beach, Va.), three-star offensive lineman Raphael Greene (Cincinnati, Ohio), four-star wide receiver Jadyn Robinson (San Juan Capistrano, Cal.), three-star running back Jeffrey Overton Jr. (Woodbridge, Va.), three-star athlete Jaiden Brown-Demery (Mest Mifflin, Pa.) and three-star edge rusher Sharlandiin Strange (Wyncote, Pa).
