Bethel Park Class of 2025 defensive end/tight end Clancy Orie continues to receive recruiting looks from across the country

Division I coaches from around the country spent plenty of time in Western Pennsylvania during the month of January recruiting the plethora of talent in the area. One player they spent a lot of time looking at was Bethel Park Class of 2025 defensive end/tight end Clancy Orie.

Orie, who stands at 6-foot-3 and 240 pounds, had a breakout season for Bethel Park, registering 65 tackles, eight tackles for loss, five sacks sacks and 18 quarterback hurries.

College programs took notice and offers started to come in last month from MAC schools in Eastern Michigan, Buffalo, Bowling Green, Akron, Toledo, Miami (Ohio) and FCS schools in Penn and Duquesne.

With the offers likely to continue over the upcoming months, the relativization has hit Orie that he’s going to be a Division football player. The only question now is where will he end up?

“It’s really great to know that all of the hard work is finally paying off. I’m really just excited about the upcoming season and the offers that I’m receiving are just reinforcing that,” Orie said. “My goal now is to just dominate and just try and do my best. But it is awesome all the offers that I’m getting but now I just have to go out and perform on the field.”

“It’s definitely refreshing because you see all these other guys getting offers on Twitter, like Power 5 ones, and you’re like ‘what’s going on. Then when you start receiving ones it’s really nice. The recruiting process has been nice, getting to talk with all these coaches when they visit you during school. Then you get to meet them during Junior Days, all of this is fun.”

Orie excelled for Bethel Park in a variety of ways as a junior in 2023. His size and strength make him difficult for offensive lineman to contain. Combine that with his aggression and speed with which he gets in the backfield to make a sack or take down a running back, and it’s no wonder why he’s starting to receive the looks he has.

“They seem to really like my intensity on the field,” Orie said on what college coaches like about his game. “They also like my hustle on the field, those seem to be the re-occurring theme from the coaches. Personally, I’d have to say that my hustle is one of my top strengths. Most of my highlights are of me running all over the field and making tackles from half across the field.”

Since all of these offers have come in recently, Orie doesn’t have any favorites yet and he has to start making visits to campuses before he’s able to start singling out specific schools. These Junior Day visits, along with attending spring practices, will start happening this month and Orie spoke on a couple of things that will be important to him.

“Academics are going to be very important,” Orie said. “For instance, Ivy League schools and some of these MAC schools with good business programs. That’s going to be important because getting a good education is tops for me. In terms of football wise, the coaching staff is going to be important. Me with the strength coaches, the head coach, the D-line coach and how I feel around them, along with the players that I meet around the program.”

Orie’s offers have come from MAC schools, along with Ivy League schools, which are obviously prestigious. What about getting an offer from a Power Four school? What would that mean to Orie?

“If that were to happen, that would obviously be big for me,” Orie said. “To have a chance to play at a high level like that, that would be a huge step in my recruiting process for sure.”

Orie will attend Pitt’s Junior Day, as he received an invite to go visit the program. His communication has been with Pitt football has been with defensive line coach Charlie Partridge.
