Happy Easter to everyone! Despite our best effort, the Winning Picks seem snake bitten as of late finishing another day 1-2. The Pirates/Marlins were able to go over in their game. The Bucs are 3-0 on the season and towards the over. We just missed the over in the UFL opener between the Stallions/Renegades. Former Pitt kicker Chris Blewitt missed a field goal late that would’ve won it for us. Illinois could not cover after enduring a 30-0 run by UConn. We moved to 225-174-3 on the year.
Now that both UConn and Alabama have advanced to the Final Four in Phoenix to face each other, let’s take a look at the updated odds for both teams. The Huskies are now a -210 favorite to win it all.
The Crimson Tide are +1800 to win their first National Championship in basketball. Nate Oats has done a hell of a job as coach of Alabama. Just to think he was a high school head coach in Detroit just 15 years ago. Ironically, it was Danny Hurley’s brother Bobby who discovered Oats and brought him on his staff at Buffalo. It comes full circle next weekend when Oats face Danny in the Final Four.

Fans have been treading the Pirates debut of Bailey Falter. I honestly don’t think he will pitch bad today, but I believe the bats will regress today after the outburst to start the season. That being said, I don’t like the a side in this game but I will take the under on the runs on what should be a sleepy Easter Sunday game.

Tennessee faces Purdue in the only #2 vs #1 regional matchup in the Elite 8. Rick Barnes versus Matt Painter for the right to go to their first ever Final Four. Something has to give today!
The Boilermakers were able to beat the Volunteers in the Maui Invitational back in November. Tennessee held a one point lead at halftime before Purdue took over and won by 4. Honestly, the Volunteers are playing some of the best basketball in the country right now. They found their stride in February and that loss to Mississippi St in the SEC Tournament actually helped them get some more rest heading into the tournament. I believe they will not only cover, but win outright today against Purdue.

The Wolfpack has been causing mass destruction for everyone’s bracket this year. After taking out cold shooting Marquette, they now get Tobacco Road rival Duke for the third time this season. The Blue Devils won the regular season matchup in Raleigh while the Wolfpack eliminated them in the ACC Quarterfinals. So who has the edge today?
Duke was very lucky to beat Houston after they lost their best player. That being said, they know how to beat this NC State team and I believe this game is going to look more like their game in the regular season than their ACC Tournament game. Give me Duke to cover and move onto their first Final Four in the post Coach K era.
