So close yet so far for a perfect night for the Winning Picks, finishing up 2-1. The Battlin’ Bucs were able to help us get the over as they broke out the bats in the late innings. Iowa was able to get their revenge on LSU and covered to advance to the Women’s Final Four. We had the under covered in the Penguins/Rangers up until the last 3 seconds of the game when Sidney Crosby scored a meaningless goal to ruin it. We move to 227-178-3 on the year.
With the way the Pirates have started the season, it is safe to look at what their current odds are for the NL Pennant and World Series. Yes, I know it has only been 5 games against middle of the road teams from the NL East, but it is always fun to know what kind of value you can get. And there is value.
Right now, to win the National League on ESPN BET the Pirates are +6000, meaning a $10 wager would win you $600. The World Series is about double that as the Bucs are +15000 to win it. A $10 wager there could win you $1,500! These are all longshots. Not saying it will happen or it is a possibility, but the value is there if you want to throw down a few bucks on the Bucs.

The Penguins lost to one of the worst teams in the NHL Saturday night in Columbus before beating one of the best in New York last night. That doesn’t make any sense even for these Pens. Can they keep it up tonight in Jersey?
Tristan Jarry should be in net tonight after a late scratch at MSG. How effective he will be battling an illness is how I am betting this game. I expect a lot of goals from both sides and over covers tonight in New Jersey.

Utah Utes vs Indiana St Sycamores (-3.5) O/U 161.5 NIT Semifinals 7:00 PM on ESPN
Indiana St was supposed to be a NCAA Tournament, but a bunch of bid stealing cost them their spot. Did they sulk? Did they mope? Nope. They picked up their hardhats and went to work, finding themselves in the NIT Semifinals in their home state at historic Hinkle Fieldhouse.
Utah is no slouch. The way they have played in the NIT, I have no idea how this team lost 14 games on the year. To be fair, all those games were played at home. On the road/neutral sites, they were a combined 4-12 on the season. The party ends for Utes tonight as the Sycamores win and cover, moving onto the NIT Championship.

Georgia Bulldogs vs Seton Hall Pirates (-4.5) O/U 145.5 NIT Semifinals 9:30 PM on ESPN2
The second NIT Semifinals features another team that was robbed of a NCAA Tournament berth in the Seton Hall Pirates. They will face the Georgia Bulldogs who were a bit of a surprise team to make it this far having to beat Wake Forest and Ohio St on the road to get here.
This will be the first time the Pirates have played off campus in the NIT, having played in Walsh Gym for all three of their games. But unlike Utah, I don’t think that will be a problem as Seton Hall is a motivated group looking to prove that keeping them out of the NCAA Tournament was a big mistake. I believe they win and cover, heading to the finals to face Indiana St.
